License inactive (402 LICENSE_INACTIVE)

What this means

Your Agon installation's subscription has lapsed, and the 72-hour grace period that follows a failed check has already run out. Agon now blocks the backoffice, mobile app, and booking widget with a 402 LICENSE_INACTIVE response on almost every request, until the subscription is active again.

This only happens to a studio that has configured a license key at some point — a fresh install that has never pasted one into Settings → License is never affected by this.

A failed payment, an unreachable license server, or a license key that wasn't recognized all start the same 72-hour countdown the moment they're first detected. The lock only takes effect once that window has fully passed without the subscription coming back as active — a brief card retry or a short internet outage inside the 72 hours never locks you out.

How to fix it

  1. Open Agon's desktop app. You're dropped straight into Settings → License — this screen, and the handful of data-export actions below, are the only things that stay reachable while a studio is locked.
  2. If your card payment failed, fix it on the Agon pricing/checkout site, then come back here.
  3. Paste your (corrected, or newly issued) license key into the License key field.
  4. Click Save.

Saving triggers an immediate check — you don't have to wait for the next scheduled one. If the check comes back active, the lock clears immediately and the rest of the app unlocks right away. If it still reports a problem, double-check you copied the whole key with no extra spaces, and confirm your subscription is actually active on the Agon pricing site.

See the License section of Settings for the full reference on what each status badge means, and Pricing for how the subscription itself works.

Your data is never held hostage

This lock never blocks exporting your own data. Client lists, reports, invoices, your full GDPR export, and on-demand backups all stay available at any point, licensed or not — only day-to-day use of Agon is affected.

If the problem persists

If you've saved a valid key, confirmed the subscription is active on the pricing site, and the app still reports LICENSE_INACTIVE, reach out through Settings → Feedback (pick "Bug"), or email support@agon-studio.dev directly if the app itself is unreachable. Include the exact error and, if you have it, the timestamp shown next to "last checked" on the License tab before it locked.
